RPL presents Holiday Activities for Children and Families

Published on

The Children’s Room at the Rochester Public Library would like to announce a variety of upcoming holiday activities for children and families.

  • Story Time to Go
Beginning December 1st, we will be offering Story Time To Go Kits! Though geared for children ages 2- 6, they can be enjoyed by the whole family. Each kit includes at least 3 books, and a set of activities to do at home. Families can choose from a list of ten themes, (Monsters, Pets, Pirates, etc). Kits will include an easy to make craft, music & movement, as well as conversation starters and a bonus “Try this!” activity. All crafts can be completed with readily available supplies from home. Each theme will also have a librarian-picked selection from our free online service Hoopla, available to all Rochester Public Library Card holders.
  • Holiday Countdown
December 1st we will kick off the holiday season with our daily countdown. Each morning on Facebook we will post a fun activity for families to do together. Activities include writing a letter to Santa, watching Rochester’s virtual tree lighting, having an indoor “snowball’ fight, and many more ideas to enjoy together.
  • Drive-Thru Santa Visit
Rochester Main Street Santa will be at the Library for his annual visit. Stop by the Library parking lot on Saturday December 12th from 10:30am to 12:00pm. Families will have the opportunity to share a quick visit with Santa from the comfort of their car. Be sure to bring your letters to Santa.

  • Take-It and Make-It
Families can pick up a Little Gnome craft kit beginning Saturday, December 5th through Saturday, December 12th or until they are gone, whichever happens first. Pick up times are during library business hours only. The kits will be inside the Children’s Room entryway. (One kit per child please.) A list of basic supplies that you may need to complete the monthly projects is available on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/RPLChildrensRoom.

Please note, the library is currently closed for browsing. A limited number of computer, copier, and Wi-Fi appointments are available. Contact the Children’s Room for “To-Go” services and Story Time Kits by calling (603) 335-7549 or email rochesterlibrary.togo@gmail.com.
