The 2022 Seacoast Housing Summit will be held Thursday, November 3 at the Governor’s Inn & Restaurant located at 78 Wakefield Street in Rochester. Refreshments and registration will open at 8 a.m. and the program will run from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The cost is $15 for chamber members and $25 for the general public. The Housing Summit is produced in partnership with the Workforce Housing Coalition of the Greater Seacoast and the Seacoast Chamber Alliance. To register, visit dovernh.org/housing.

New Hampshire is at an economic crossroads. Businesses are struggling to find workers because workers are struggling to find housing. It’s estimated that the state needs 20,000-30,000 new housing units statewide to continue its economic growth and house the workforce. Join regional stakeholders and chamber members for a light breakfast and discussion with business leaders and those working to address the housing crisis in their communities.

Panelists for the event include Rochester Mayor Paul Callaghan, Portsmouth Assistant Mayor Joanna Kelley, and Housing Partnership Executive Director Marty Chapman. Sarah Wrightsman, community engagement coordinator for New Hampshire Housing, will serve as the moderator and the keynote speaker will be Mike Skelton, president and chief executive officer of the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire.

“New Hampshire is facing a significant housing shortage. It’s impacting our economic growth, our businesses, and the workforce that keeps our communities moving,” says Nick Taylor, executive director of the Workforce Housing Coalition of the Greater Seacoast. “The 2022 Seacoast Housing Summit will explore these challenges and more. We are excited to gather the business community and regional leaders for this important conversation.”

The Seacoast Housing Summit is sponsored by Cambridge Trust, Eastern Bank, Kennebunk Savings, Northeast Credit Union, Partners Bank, Northeast Credit Union, and the New Hampshire Association of Realtors.

The Workforce Housing Coalition of the Greater Seacoast is a small nonprofit whose mission is to ensure a range of housing options is affordable and available to the diverse workforce in the greater seacoast area of New Hampshire and southern Maine.
