Seacoast Gymnastics Center Expands and Relocates to Market Basket Plaza

The City of Rochester Economic Development Department is pleased to announce that Seacoast Gymnastics Center has relocated to 104 Milton Road in the Market Basket Plaza.

Owner Sharon Bove said the new location offers double the space of their previous facility and features 130 feet of glass, creating a much brighter environment. The expansion also allows for a dedicated area for preschool-aged gymnasts, where parents can observe their children at all times. In addition, the new space provides ample parking and seating to host their own meets—meaning, for the first time, Seacoast Gymnastics gymnasts will be able to compete in their home gym.

Seacoast Gymnastics currently serves about 300 families and is at capacity. The larger location will allow them to welcome approximately 150 more families. The main challenge now is finding coaches whose philosophy aligns with theirs. Seacoast Gymnastics emphasizes that children come first and awards are secondary.

“I’m very proud of our gymnasts when we go to meets. They support and cheer for each other and other teams, acknowledging routines that are well done,” said Ms. Bove.

Ms. Bove also noted that the families of current gymnasts have been incredibly supportive throughout the move, volunteering to transport equipment, paint, and help prepare the new space. She praised Market Basket, the landlord, for their cooperation and support. The facility, which had been vacant since a pharmacy closed about 15 years ago, now features new floors, lighting, bathrooms, and fresh paint throughout.

She also expressed gratitude to Jenn Marsh, Assistant Director of Economic Development, for helping her navigate the City process to obtain a Certificate of Occupancy. “Jenn has been incredible, and I couldn’t have done it without her,” she said.

Assistant Director Marsh added, “Seacoast Gymnastics is a great local business success story. When I first met Sharon in 2014, they were trying to move from a run-down location. We found space at the Lilac Mall, and she was able to utilize our low-interest JOB Loan program to help with the move and set up of the new space. When they needed to move again this year, they secured a location that is even bigger and allows Sharon to expand her business once again.”
