Nodrog Farms (Barrington, NH) has opened its first retail store, Shop Alpaca and Things, at The Ridge Market Place in Rochester.
“Shop Alpaca and Things is a one of a kind, family-owned, small business offering incredibly luxurious products to the discerning buyer,” said Jenna Murphy Aubin, Community Marketing Manager for Waterstone Properties. “Waterstone could not be more thrilled to welcome Shop Alpaca and Things into our diverse selection of retail options at The Ridge.”
Shop Alpaca and Things offers a wide variety of products made by local farmers, fine crafters, and independent mills from around the United States. Their products are also available to purchase online.
“We’re excited to teach people about what makes Alpaca products so special,” said Gordon Long, owner. “Alpaca products are hypoallergenic and do not contain lanolin. Alpaca fiber is 4 times warmer than wool and as soft as cashmere. It’s a hollow fiber, meaning it has air pockets, making it extremely light-weight while keeping you warm. It’s also fire and water-resistant.”
Long adds that Nodrog Farms started with only 2 female alpacas. They’ve since expanded to 10 alpacas and participate in more than 30 craft and fiber shows around New England. Their mission is “to educate consumers about the quality and the benefits of owning alpacas and their products.”
“We’re excited to welcome Shop Alpaca and Things to the Rochester business community,” said Jennifer Marsh, Economic Development Specialist for the City of Rochester. “Their products are unique and unlike anything you’ll find anywhere else.”
