Spaulding High School is pleased to announce the Top 10 students for the Class of 2025. Students are listed below in alphabetical order. Valedictorian and salutatorian, based on grades for the entire four years of high school, will be announced during the graduation ceremony on Friday, June 6.
Cameron Bastien
Cameron Bastien is the son of Daniel and Lynne Bastien of Rochester. Graduating with an impressive portfolio of achievements, Cameron was accepted to Plymouth State University, the University of New Hampshire, University of Hartford, Roger Williams University, Western New England University, Bridgewater State University, Dean College, Endicott College, the University of New England, Westfield State University, Husson University, Fitchburg State University, and Saint Joseph’s College. Cameron will be attending Plymouth State University, where he will continue his soccer career and pursue a degree in Physical Therapy. His ultimate goal is to become a Physical Therapist, blending his passion for sports with a commitment to helping others.
Cameron’s athletic accomplishments are a hallmark of his high school experience. A four-year varsity soccer player and three-year captain, he earned honors including Division I All-State, the NHSCA All-Scholastic Award, and Varsity Soccer Rookie of the Year. He also competed in varsity tennis for four years and represented his school in Bass Fishing, SALT (Student-Athlete Leadership Team), National Honor Society, and MHAC (Mental Health Awareness Club).
Off the field, Cameron made a lasting impact through community service—volunteering as a youth soccer coach, helping at soup kitchens, supporting the Drew Ceppetelli Turkey Trot, and assisting at mountain bike races. He has balanced these commitments with part-time work as a lifeguard, basketball coach and referee, and scoreboard operator.
Cameron’s academic dedication has been recognized with the Saint Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement and Social Conscience as well as the NHIAA Scholar Athlete Award.
Cameron shared that his most meaningful high school experiences came from being part of a team, cherishing the camaraderie, shared goals, and unforgettable moments that come with competing together. He extends heartfelt thanks to all of his teachers and coaches and especially to his parents, for their constant support and guidance.
Trevor Cormier
Trevor Cormier is the son of Eric and Heather Cormier of Rochester. Throughout his time at Spaulding, Trevor has balanced academic excellence with extensive athletic achievement and service to others. Trevor has been accepted to the University of New Hampshire, Rochester Institute of Technology, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Roger Williams University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Western New England University. He will be attending the University of New Hampshire in the fall, where he has been accepted into the Honors Program to pursue a degree in Engineering. Using his strong analytical skills and commitment to problem-solving to make a meaningful impact, Trevor ultimately strives to become an engineer.
Throughout high school, Trevor has consistently demonstrated academic excellence. He is a proud member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the National Technical Honor Society. His academic achievements have earned him the RIT Math and Science Award and a Certificate of Academic Excellence.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Trevor is a talented multi-sport athlete. He has earned varsity letters in baseball, cross country and indoor track, in addition to serving as captain for the both cross country and indoor track teams. Trevor cites baseball as the most meaningful activity of his high school years—a sport through which he has formed lifelong friendships, developed leadership and communication skills, and learned how to embrace and grow from failure.
Trevor’s commitment to service is equally noteworthy. Through the National Honor Society, he completed over 40 hours of community service each year. His volunteer work involves mentoring young students, assisting those in need, and coaching youth baseball. Outside of school and athletics, Trevor is also a hard-working employee of La Corona Mexican Restaurant in Rochester.
Trevor extends his deepest gratitude to his parents, Eric and Heather Cormier, for their unwavering support, encouragement, and belief in his potential. Their guidance has helped shape the thoughtful, determined, and accomplished young man he is today.
Cole DeAngelis-Poland
Cole DeAngelis-Poland is the son of Rachel DeAngelis and Dean Poland of Rochester. A high honors student all four years at Spaulding, Cole has been accepted to Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Rochester Institute of Technology, UMass Amherst, and the University of New Hampshire. He will attend the UNH in the fall, where he has been accepted into the Honors College to study engineering. Cole is the recipient of multiple merit-based scholarships, including the Trustees Scholarship, the CEPS Industry Scholarship, and the highly selective Hamel Scholars Scholarship — awarded to fewer than 1% of UNH’s incoming class.
Cole plans to pursue a career in automotive engineering, combining his passion for innovation with his academic strengths. Throughout high school, he has remained deeply involved in both academics and extracurriculars. He served as Vice President of Class Council, was a CTE Ambassador, and he participated in FBLA, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and the New Hampshire Scholars program. He also held leadership roles both on the Spaulding High School Student Leadership Team and the Student Athletic Leadership Team (SALT).
Athletically, Cole was a double varsity athlete, competing on both the ski and tennis teams, where he served as captain of the ski team for two years and captain of the tennis team during his senior year. He calls his time on the ski team the most meaningful part of his high school experience, where he not only sharpened his racing skills but also formed lifelong friendships and memories.
Outside of school, Cole works at Lilac City Grille and Evviva Trattoria, balancing his jobs with a multitude of academic and extracurricular responsibilities. Cole has also dedicated many hours to community service, volunteering at elementary schools, within school clubs, and at the Fellowship Soup Kitchen.
Cole is especially grateful to his parents, Rachael and Dean, for their unwavering support and to his teachers for helping him reach his goals.
Hannah Gibson
Hannah Gibson is the daughter of Jennifer and Alan Gibson of Rochester. Thoughtful, dedicated, and introspective, Hannah Gibson graduates from Spaulding High School with a strong academic foundation and a deep appreciation for personal growth and community. She will continue her educational journey at Reed College, where she plans to major in French, following her passion for language, culture, and intellectual exploration. Hannah also earned admission to Simmons University and Salve Regina University, ultimately choosing Reed for its unique academic environment and emphasis on independent thinking. A proud New Hampshire Scholar graduating with Honors, Hannah’s high school career reflects a quiet perseverance and pursuit of excellence across all disciplines.
A member of both Mu Alpha Theta and the French Honor Society, Hannah has brought thoughtful insight and academic rigor to her studies. She also lent her talents and time to working at Stuart’s Greenhouses, where she has gained hands-on experience and contributed to the local Rochester community.
One of the most meaningful chapters of Hannah’s high school experience was her time spent on the Spaulding High School Bowling Team. As she fondly notes, she is considered by her former teammates to be the last member of the team—a badge of honor that speaks to her dedication and spirit. “While it existed,” Hannah recalls, “I was taken under the wing of a mentor, and I saw gradual, hard-earned improvement in the sport that I knew to be of my own efforts, while still feeling a part of a team whose self-esteem did not depend on whether we won or lost.” That sense of grounded growth and meaningful connection continues to shape her path forward.
With her keen intellect, reflective nature, and strong sense of self, Hannah Gibson is ready to embrace the challenges and discoveries that await her. Hannah extends a heartfelt thanks to her understanding teachers at Spaulding, her supportive mother, and her sister, Sarah, who reminded Hannah that her worth doesn’t lie in her grades.
Dylan Gravallese
Dylan Gavallese is the son of Nicole and Justin Gravallese of Rochester. A dedicated leader, accomplished athlete, and aspiring aviator, Dylan has soared to new heights throughout high school — both literally and figuratively. Dylan has been accepted at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Auburn University, Charleston Southern University, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and Ohio State University. He will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona, with a Presidential Scholarship, where he will pursue a degree in Professional Flight. Dylan’s ultimate goal is to become a pilot in the United States Air Force or an airline pilot, continuing a path he’s already begun with impressive focus and achievement.
A standout member of AFJROTC, Dylan served as Group Commander, earning multiple honors including the ROAA Award, National Sojourners Award, and the American Legion Scholastic Excellence Award. He logged over 140 hours of service, including time with LIFT, New Cadet Orientation, and the Cadet Leadership Course.
Dylan’s leadership extended to every area of his high school life. He served as Co-President of the Mental Health Awareness Club, a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and Student Leadership. Athletically, Dylan shined as a four-year varsity athlete and team captain in both wrestling and lacrosse, earning both Scholar Athlete and Athletic Scholar awards.
Dylan is a three-time CTE program completer (Aviation Ground School, UAS Drone, and Computer Technologies). He is the recipient of the Saint Anselm Book Award, and he also earned Academic Excellence for placing in the top 25% of SAT scores nationwide. Dylan has also earned his Commercial Drone License, combining his technical skills with his passion for flight.
Among all his achievements, Dylan considers his experience at the Aim High Flight Academy the most meaningful. It introduced him to lifelong friends and mentors, solidifying his commitment to aviation—even in the face of challenges.
Dylan expresses heartfelt gratitude to Major Heeter and Sergeant Kerrigan for guiding his journey in AFJROTC, to his parents for their unwavering support, and to the Spaulding High School librarians, who provided a space of calm and encouragement throughout high school.
Averie Marcotte
Averie Marcotte, daughter of Melissa and Nick Marcotte of Rochester, graduates with a clear passion and purpose: to shape the minds of future generations as an elementary school teacher. Averie has been accepted to several colleges, including the University of New Hampshire, Plymouth State University, Keene State College, the University of New England, and Southern New Hampshire University. Averie will be attending Southern New Hampshire University under the Presidential Scholarship, where she will major in Elementary Education.
Throughout high school, Averie has immersed herself in academics, extracurriculars, and service. She was an active member of Track & Field and Gymnastics, while also contributing to a variety of academic and leadership organizations including the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Class Council, Student Leadership, CTE Ambassadors, and Educators Rising.
Averie has also been dedicated to volunteering, lending her time to Holy Rosary Church and assisting with events at local elementary schools. Averie also works as a gymnastics coach at Seacoast Gymnastics Center, where she aims to both mentor and inspire young athletes.
Averie recalls that the most meaningful experience of her high school journey was her Extended Learning Opportunity (ELO) at William Allen School, where she had the opportunity to observe teachers, teach lessons, and build valuable connections with students and educators. This hands-on experience deepened her love for teaching and solidified her career path.
Averie expresses heartfelt gratitude to her parents and brother, who have always been her greatest supporters throughout her academic and personal journey.
Emmaline Morin
Emmaline Morning is the daughter of Natalie and Shawn Morin of Rochester. With a passion for science, Emmaline will be attending Rivier University, where she has been invited to join the Honors Program and was awarded the Founders Merit Scholarship as well as the Biology Innovators Grant. She plans to major in Biotechnology as she works toward her ultimate goal of becoming a pharmaceutical technician. Emmaline also received acceptances from the University of New Hampshire, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Western New England University, Rochester Institute of Technology, Rivier University, University of Maine, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Regis College, and Wentworth Institute of Technology.
A proud member of the National Honor Society, Emmaline has been deeply involved in her school and community. She served all four years on Class Council, took part in Leadership, and was an active member and President of her church Youth Group, a role she found profoundly meaningful. “It taught me how a group of people from different backgrounds can come together to worship and have fun as a whole,” she reflects. Emmaline also participated in indoor and outdoor track, was a volleyball team manager, and contributed to Holy Flinn Moly, a science tutoring group. Emmaline’s volunteer work includes service at Mary’s Dog and Rescue, local elementary schools, Rochester Middle School track meets, and even painting a mural at the Roger Allen concession building.
Outside the classroom, Emmaline works at Tuckers in Dover, where she rose from busser to server, gaining valuable experience in the workforce. She also spent four years working at Jack and Jill Preschool and built a trusted side business as a babysitter, earning her CPR certification in the process.
Among her honors, Emmaline received the Women in STEM Book Award, which came with a scholarship offer from RIT, and was named Student of the Week during her senior year.
Emmaline shares heartfelt thanks to her biggest supporters: her mom and dad, her siblings, Ethan, Zoe, and Zachary, her boyfriend, Jayden Brown, and her many friends who stood by her through high school. She sends a special shoutout to Sydney Cormier, her future college roommate and the shoulder she knows she can lean on.
Yasmin Nguyen
Yasmin Nguyen is the daughter of Holly Phan and Coung Nguyen of Rochester. A model of dedication, leadership, and academic excellence, Yasmin Nguyen graduates with a remarkable list of accomplishments. This fall, Yasmin will attend Harvard College on a Harvard Faculty Scholarship, where she plans to pursue Pre-Law studies with the goal of becoming a lawyer — a field where her voice, vision, and commitment to justice are sure to shine. Yasmin’s academic success also earned her acceptance to Boston University, Boston College, American University, Clark University, University of New Hampshire, and the University of Pittsburgh.
Throughout high school, Yasmin has been a standout student and leader. She has served as Class Council Secretary for three years, Secretary of the National Honor Society, and Co-President of Mu Alpha Theta, all while being an active voice in Environmental Club, Art Club, and volunteering as a CTE Ambassador. Her dedication to academic rigor and service was recognized with the Scholastic Arts Golden Key Award, a Book Award, Honor Roll distinctions, and national recognition through the BigFuture National First-Generation Recognition Program.
A tireless worker, Yasmin balanced academics with a strong professional life, working up to 30 hours per week at McDonald’s, where she rose from Crew Member to Support Manager. She also worked at Crumbl Cookies as a Jr. Shift Lead and spent summers as a camp counselor, eventually taking the lead as head counselor.
Yasmin’s most meaningful high school experience came through her involvement in the Library Initiative for Teens (LIFT). She shared that volunteering in the library not only gave her a safe and welcoming space but also an opportunity to connect with a wide range of people, sharpen valuable skills, and give back to the school community that helped shape her.
Yasmin extends her heartfelt thanks to her mother, Holly Phan, and father, Coung Nguyen, whose unwavering love and support inspired her every step of the way. She also expresses deep gratitude to her educators, librarians, bosses, and close friends, each of whom helped her grow into the confident and driven young woman she is today.
Ethan Proulx
Ethan Proulx is the son of Micha and Christopher Proulx of Rochester. A dedicated scholar with a passion for science and service, Ethan Proulx graduates having left a meaningful mark both academically and personally at Spaulding High School. This fall, Ethan will attend the University of New Hampshire as a member of the Hamel Honors Program and as a recipient of the Trustee Scholarship. He plans to major in Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology with the long-term goal of becoming a Doctor of Cardiology. Ethan also earned acceptances from Boston University, Northeastern University, Fordham University, Villanova University, UMass Amherst, and the State University of New York.
Throughout high school, Ethan has been a consistent contributor to his school and local community. A member of the National Honor Society, French Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Student Council, where he served as treasurer, Ethan has balanced academics with strong leadership and service. Ethan also competed on both the Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field teams and participated in Ski Club, developing perseverance and teamwork along the way.
Outside of school, Ethan has given back through volunteering at soup kitchens, food pantries, clothing drives, and animal shelters. He has also dedicated his time to tutoring fellow students and worked to support local schools and childcare initiatives within Rochester. Meanwhile, Ethan has maintained steady employment at Hannaford, where he is a hard-working employee.
One of Ethan’s most cherished high school memories comes from a simple but meaningful tradition: Crepe Fridays in AP Chemistry. For him, these mornings were about more than just breakfast—they embodied friendship, joy, and a sense of unity that made the classroom feel like home. “We were all friends,” he reflects, “but those days really hit home how everything was good with us. We all were happy together—and the crepes were really good too.”
Ethan is deeply grateful to those who have supported his journey, especially his mother and father, as well as Ms. Griffin, Ms. Evilsizer, EM, and ST for their guidance and belief in his potential.
Alaina Sevey
Alaina Sevey is the daughter of David and Minda Sevey of Rochester. A gifted musician, leader, and storyteller, Alaina leaves Spaulding with a legacy of artistic excellence, academic achievement, and meaningful service to her community. Alaina was accepted at Brigham Young University, Brigham Young University-Idaho, Utah State University, and Southern Virginia University. She will continue her journey this fall at Brigham Young University, where she plans to major in Theatre Arts Studies, pursuing a creative future as a theater technician, writer, or filmmaker.
An honors student and committed leader, Alaina is a member of the National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society, and has served as a yearbook editor and drum major in band, where she also led her section. Her deep love of music earned her a place as a NHMEA All-State Musician in both her sophomore and senior years, a rare achievement made even more meaningful by her dedication to mastering the oboe—an instrument she courageously picked up at the beginning of high school. Alaina describes performing in the All-State Festival as a transformative experience, where her hard work culminated in a powerful moment of artistic accomplishment among equally passionate musicians.
Beyond music and academics, Alaina has a strong spirit of service. She has contributed her time to the Somersworth Food Pantry, her church’s food pantry, and as a camp counselor and lighting technician. Outside of school, Alaina enjoys skiing, reading, writing, and taking private music lessons. She was also recognized with the St. Michael’s College Book Award for academic achievement and community leadership, and earned the distinction of NH Scholar.
Alaina offers a heartfelt thanks to her parents, sisters, brother-in-law, and close friends for their love and support. She also extends deep gratitude to Mrs. Shutt, Mrs. Saucier, Ms. Newbegin, Ms. Horne, and the entire Spaulding Music Department for helping her grow and thrive as both an artist and individual.
