Spaulding High School’s Annual Holiday Village & Art Show Returns with “Choose Joy” Theme

Published on

The Spaulding Music Department, in collaboration with the Art Department, is delighted to announce the return of the Annual Holiday Village Concert and Art Gallery on December 16th and 17th, 2023.

This annual holiday tradition, themed “Choose Joy,” invites the greater Rochester community to experience a fusion of music and art at Spaulding High School. Scheduled performances include Saturday showcases at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm, with a Sunday matinee at 2:00 pm.

The event promises exhibitions of Spaulding’s marching band, concert band, handbell ensemble, chorus, select choir, and percussion ensemble. Before each performance, a curated gallery will showcase a wide array of student artworks, featuring contributions from several elementary schools within the district alongside original pieces made by SHS students.

“We are excited to bring the longstanding tradition of our Holiday Village back home to Spaulding High School,” said Ron Goodwin, Spaulding’s Director of Music & Performing Arts, “We hope to incorporate a number of elements for which the Village has come to be known for over the years. To do so we are having audience members enter through the Tech Center rather than through the main doors of the high school.”

Important to note, the event has been relocated from the Community Center to Spaulding High School this year, with entrance via the Tech Center main lobby.

As part of the initiative, staff and students are encouraging donations for the Pope Memorial Humane Society Cocheco Valley and Raider Station Food Pantry. Detailed lists of needed items can be found on the event’s official website.

Visit www.spauldingmusic.com for tickets, which are available now.
