Cinco’s Cantina recently held a special Fiesta Fundraiser at its Rochester location for beloved team member Sherry Libby as she steps away from the restaurant to support her daughter through a life-saving transplant journey.
The event was an overwhelming success and was one of the most widely supported and community-promoted fundraising events the restaurant has hosted to date. Thanks to an incredible turnout and generous support from guests, the fundraiser initially raised $2,031.12 through event sales alone. Cinco’s Cantina made the decision to contribute an additional donation to bring the total contribution to more than $3,000 for the family.
“Sherry has been a bright light on the Rochester team since day one,” said Asia Tellez. “For many guests, she is a familiar face who has shared laughs, remembered orders, and made every visit feel personal.” Her daughter, Charlotte, is a 15-year-old sophomore at Spaulding High School enrolled in honors and AP courses, as well as the Animal Science program at the Dover Regional Career Technical Center. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Vice President of her class, part of the Leadership Committee, a Junior Coach for Rochester Youth Spirit, and serves as Manager for both the Spaulding High School boys’ basketball and football teams.
Charlotte is currently preparing for a life-saving bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder. Beyond the fundraiser proceeds, community members also donated through a cash collection box and via a GoFundMe QR code displayed throughout the event. In one particularly moving gesture, an anonymous donor entrusted Cinco’s with an additional cash donation to be given directly to Sherry.
“It was such a heartwarming night, seeing everyone come together for this sweet family,” continued Tellez.
