The New Hampshire Division of Forests and Lands has lifted the statewide prohibition on open burning and smoking in or near woodlands, effective October 29, 2025.
According to the NH Forest Protection Bureau, recent rainfall, increased humidity, and improved soil moisture have significantly reduced the wildfire threat across the state. These conditions, along with expected precipitation in the coming days, prompted the Governor and Executive Council to lift the burn ban that had been in place during the summer and early fall due to extreme drought and elevated fire danger.
While statewide conditions have improved, local fire danger may still vary. Residents are reminded that fire permits are required for all open burning and that permits may be restricted if conditions become unsafe.
