Thank a Rochester Cop hosts poster contest for elementary art students

Local nonprofit initiative “Thank a Rochester Cop”, in collaboration with the Spaulding High School Art Department, recently held an art contest for elementary students. The winning pieces will be used to promote the Thank a Rochester Cop campaign in September.

The Spaulding High School Art Department, known for painting annual messages and images of police appreciation on downtown windows, extended its efforts this year to include younger artists. The contest showcased their creativity and appreciation for the dedication and service of Rochester’s police force.

“The Thank a Rochester Cop Committee is excited to support this poster contest to include Rochester’s elementary students in showing appreciation for our officers,” stated Sheena Downs, Co-Chair of Thank a Rochester Cop. “Thank you, SAU 54 Elementary art teachers for assisting in this project. It’s wonderful to see connections grow in our community, especially between our children and police officers.”

Six winners were selected from the dozens of entries received. All winners were presented with gift certificates to local businesses.
