Frisbie Memorial Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, announces the appointment of Thomas Bowden as chief executive officer. A healthcare executive with more than 10 years of experience, Bowden comes to Frisbie Memorial Hospital from Orlando Health, where he most recently served as president of Rockledge Hospital in Florida, a 298-bed hospital on Florida’s east coast.

“Tom brings more than a decade of healthcare experience with a proven track record of improving quality, patient outcomes and operational efficiency,” said William Lunn, president of HCA Healthcare’s Capital Division. “We look forward to welcoming Tom to HCA Healthcare and Frisbie Memorial Hospital and are confident that his leadership and expertise will be instrumental in driving Frisbie’s continued growth and success in the Greater Rochester community.”

Prior to Rockledge Hospital’s acquisition by Orlando Health in October 2024, Bowden had been with Steward Healthcare since 2014, holding numerous leadership roles prior to his appointment to CEO of Rockledge Hospital in January 2023, including chief administrative officer and chief operating officer. He also served as the regional director of operations for Steward Healthcare’s eight hospitals in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida.

“When I met the team at Frisbie, it was immediately clear to me they are deeply committed to the success of this organization and have established an exceptional foundation of quality and engagement,” Bowden said. “I look forward to partnering with team members, the medical staff, the board and the broader community to enhance the outstanding work already being done at Frisbie. Together, we will continue to position Frisbie as a leader in high-quality, patient-centered care for the Greater Rochester/Dover area.”

A New England native, Bowden earned his bachelor of arts degree at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and his master’s degree in business administration at F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
