Community Partners proudly presented the 2026 Brian Collins Impact Award to Sue and Tim Willson, owners of Potter’s House Bakery & Café, during the organization’s Annual Meeting held September 22, 2026, at the Cochecho Country Club.
Established in 2023, the Brian Collins Impact Award honors individuals, families, or organizations in New Hampshire whose work exemplifies the legacy of Brian Collins, a longtime advocate for people with mental illness, substance use disorder, developmental disabilities, and aging-related challenges. The award recognizes those who advance dignity, inclusion, innovation, and opportunity in human services. The award celebrates the enduring legacy of Brian Collins, who served as Executive Director of Community Partners for 27 years and devoted his career to improving opportunities and outcomes for New Hampshire residents and their families.
The award was presented by Isaiah, an Employee of Potter’s House Bakery and Cafe, who reflected on the Willsons: “They make people feel like they matter to each other and in the community as well. They do not just talk about including others; they show it every day.”
This year’s award generated the highest number of nominations since the award’s inception, including more nominations for the Willsons than any previous recipient. Following a thorough review process, the selection committee made a unanimous decision.
Since opening Potter’s House Bakery & Café, Sue and Tim Willson have built more than a successful local business. Guided by a mission of inclusion, they have created meaningful, on-the-job work experiences for individuals with developmental disabilities and young adults on the autism spectrum. Their approach emphasizes patience, trust, mentorship, and real responsibility, helping employees build confidence, workplace skills, and a greater sense of purpose.
Nominators described the Willsons as compassionate, innovative, and deeply community-centered. Through partnerships with families, schools, service providers, organizations, and funders, they have cultivated a workplace where individuals of all abilities can thrive. The bakery has become much more than a place of employment. It serves as a welcoming gathering space where mentorship, friendship, teamwork, and inclusion are woven into everyday experiences.
Community Partners congratulates Sue and Tim Willson on this well-deserved recognition and thanks them for their continued contributions to making New Hampshire a more inclusive and welcoming place for all.
