Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, Parkland Medical Center in Derry, and Portsmouth Regional Hospital—each part of HCA Healthcare—collectively gathered nearly 2,800 pounds of food to benefit four food pantries in the Granite State as part of HCA Healthcare’s annual Healthy Food for Healthier Tomorrows Food Drive.
Over the course of two weeks in November, colleagues were encouraged to donate items from the wish lists of each hospital’s designated beneficiary. The 2,798 pounds of food collected across all four hospitals generated 2,331 meals for food banks serving the Seacoast and Southern New Hampshire regions. The totals each facility collected, along with their respective beneficiaries, are:
- Catholic Medical Center: 431 pounds, benefiting New Hampshire Food Bank
- Frisbie Memorial Hospital: 542 pounds, benefiting The Share Fund
- Parkland Medical Center: 375 pounds, benefiting Sonshine Soup Kitchen
- Portsmouth Regional Hospital: 1,450 pounds, benefiting Gather
Portsmouth Regional Hospital was the leading donor among the 18 participating hospitals in HCA Healthcare’s Capital Division.
“I am continually impressed by the community spirit of the teams here in New Hampshire,” said Sean Patterson, chief executive officer of Portsmouth Regional Hospital. “Our colleagues consistently go above and beyond, not only to care for our patients, their families, and each other, but to support the nonprofit organizations that provide services to many in need in our community. With so many suffering from food insecurity this season, it was particularly heartwarming to see the incredible donation – 1,450 pounds – donated by Portsmouth Regional Hospital colleagues.”
Started in 2021, the Healthy Food for Healthier Tomorrows Food Drive is HCA Healthcare’s enterprise-wide annual give-back campaign aimed at helping communities address food insecurity by providing nutritious meals to families in the communities we serve.
“We recognize that many people in the U.S. suffer from food insecurity, which is associated with a variety of health conditions such as diabetes, obesity, heart disease, mental health disorders, and other chronic diseases,” said Christopher Finley, assistant vice president of community engagement for HCA Healthcare’s Capital Division. “That is why we work closely with our nonprofit partners to serve those who live and work in our communities. We are proud of our colleagues in New Hampshire who step up time and time again to help those in need and to support the nonprofits that provide much-needed services.”
