Andrew Skeels’ choreographic work will headline the 2026 LILA Dance Festival in Rochester, New Hampshire, at Rochester Common Park on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Dancers ages 18 and older with a strong dance background and availability for rehearsals are encouraged to apply for a live audition or submit an audition video. Live auditions will take place on June 17, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at LILA Studios in Rochester, New Hampshire. Rehearsals will be held at LILA Studios between July 13 and July 24, 2026.
Andrew Skeels is an internationally acclaimed choreographer and director known for creating immersive, interdisciplinary works that blend dance, theatre, music, and circus into powerful narrative experiences. His creations have been commissioned by leading institutions, including Nederlands Dans Theater, Bavarian State Opera Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and Cirque du Soleil. As the founder of Skeels Danse in Montréal, he has toured globally with his works and earned critical acclaim for his emotionally rich and visually striking style, often addressing urgent political and social issues. His recent piece, Burning of Jamestown, which explores the erosion of democracy in the United States, was named the 2025 Show of the Year by National Theater Mannheim Tanz, further establishing him as a bold and original voice in contemporary performance.
