WHEREAS, the Spaulding High School Hockey Team has demonstrated unwavering dedication, resilience, and heart throughout their season; and
WHEREAS, through countless early mornings, late nights, grueling practices, and hard-fought games, these student-athletes committed themselves not only to the sport, but to one another; and
WHEREAS, their journey reflects years of perseverance, teamwork, and belief—both in themselves and in their shared goal; and
WHEREAS, the team has achieved a remarkable and long-awaited victory, capturing the State Championship title for the first time in 19 years; and
WHEREAS, this achievement carries special meaning, as their coach once stood on the ice as a member of the last championship team 19 years ago, bringing the story full circle in a powerful testament to legacy, leadership, and pride; and
WHEREAS, this team has shown that grit, unity, and determination can overcome time, doubt, and adversity; and
WHEREAS, what these players and coaches have built together; through every pass, every save, every goal, will leave a lasting mark on their school, their community, and each other.
NOW, THEREFORE, I Chuck Grassie, Mayor of the City of Rochester, do hereby proclaim that the City proudly recognizes and celebrates the Spaulding High School Hockey Team for their outstanding accomplishment of the State Championship victory; and further proclaim that their journey, their bond, and their triumph will never be forgotten, serving as an inspiration for future generations of athletes to dream big, work hard, and believe in what is possible. This proclamation is hereby issued in honor of a team that proved that after 19 years, greatness doesn’t fade, it waits for the right group to bring it back to life.
