The Department of Public Works will begin construction and paving at the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center, 150 Wakefield Street, on Monday, September 28, with work expected to continue through Friday, October 23, 2026.

As shown on the accompanying map, the blue area at the rear of the building (near the tennis courts) is where the construction and paving will take place. Both rear entrances will be closed temporarily during that time.

The red area on the map will be reserved for Community Center businesses and visitors only. Signs will be posted indicating “NO STUDENT PARKING” in this area. Approximately 20 parking spaces between the Spaulding High School parking lot and the red-marked area will be available for student parking. These spaces will be clearly marked with signs. Public Works employees will also be on site Monday morning to assist students and help direct them to the appropriate parking areas.

Public Works is encouraging students to share rides when possible over the next few weeks while this work is underway.

If the red area of the parking lot is not being utilized as expected, Public Works may gradually adjust the plan and open sections for student parking. The School Department will be notified if changes are made, and signage will be adjusted accordingly.

There may also be a period between the completion of drainage work and paving when the rear parking lot can be temporarily reopened. If this occurs, the changes will be communicated in advance.
