Public Works: Union Street Parking Lot Construction Resumes August 25

Published on

The City of Rochester is providing an update on the Union Street Parking Lot construction project.

According to Public Works, SUR will be remobilizing on site starting Monday, August 25, 2025. Please note that parking will be prohibited in the lot closest to the street to accommodate construction activities.

The project, budgeted at $1.75 million, aims to improve both functionality and environmental sustainability. The lot’s capacity will increase slightly and will include handicapped-accessible and electric vehicle charging spots, as well as a consolidated dumpster corral for nearby businesses and residents.

Significant environmental upgrades include bioretention basins, tree filter boxes, and a closed drainage system designed to manage stormwater runoff and protect the nearby Cocheco River.

Michael Scala, Economic Development Director for the City of Rochester, will be the main point of contact for the Union Street Parking Lot project. Contact (603) 335-7522 or michael.scala@rochesternh.gov for questions and concerns.
