Rochester NH History Podcast: The Legacy of Dominicus Hanson

Published on

Dominicus Hanson was a wealthy and respected resident of Rochester, remembered as one of the city’s greatest benefactors. His most enduring gift to the community is the magnificent stretch of land along the Cocheco River known as Hanson Pines. This hidden gem, located near Spaulding High School, spans 30 acres of old-growth pine forest with well-maintained walking trails offering scenic views of the river and towering pines. Some of the oldest trees in the park predate the Civil War, standing for more than 180 years.

The Rochester Historical Society and Museum is located on Hanson Street. Visit www.rochesternh.gov/history for hours of operation, events, contact information, and to learn more about programming.
