Yacht Rock will make its world premiere at ROH this summer, running from Friday, July 10 to Sunday, August 23. It features more than 30 of the greatest songs from that iconic age of smooth grooves and elite musicianship, spanning the mid-’70s to mid-’80s. It’s a party: piña coladas, beach balls, a limbo bar, a fully stocked bar, and a dance party! What could possibly go wrong?

For the whole family, Disney Channel’s smash hit High School Musical comes to life on the Opera House stage from Friday, July 17 to Sunday, August 30. Troy, Gabriella, and the students of East High must navigate first love, friendships, and family while balancing classes and extracurricular activities. It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The jocks, brainiacs, thespians, and skater dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations, and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock Troy discovers that Gabriella—a brainy girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip—has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well. This show’s big talent and upbeat songs will make it the highlight of the season!

This year, we are switching shows each weekend: join us on the Yacht Rock boat one weekend and get tickets to Troy and Gabriella’s High School Musical the next. In between, bring the kids to see a performance of our Theatre for Young Audiences production of How I Became a Pirate!

How I Became a Pirate, an award-winning musical based on the beloved children’s book by Melinda Long and illustrated by David Shannon, tells the story of a young boy named Jeremy Jacob who joins a pirate crew. Along the way, he discovers the exciting parts of pirate life—like singing sea shanties and hunting for buried treasure—as well as the drawbacks, such as the absence of bedtime stories and goodnight routines. As Jeremy learns from Captain Braid Beard and his crew, he begins to realize that life at sea isn’t everything he imagined, especially when he starts to miss his family. Ultimately, he comes to appreciate the comforts of home. The book is celebrated for its humor, lively storytelling, and colorful illustrations. Performances take place at the Rochester Opera House on July 25; August 2, 5, 8, 9, 19, 22, and 23.

And don’t forget about $10tkts! Head over to our store, Stage Door Tickets and More, to take advantage of this great opportunity, sponsored by Holy Rosary Credit Union.
