A message from the Rochester Opera House:
It began as a short, fifteen-minute musical for a small local school in England and grew into a beloved theatrical sensation. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s masterpiece, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, opens on May 8 and runs through May 24!
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a fun, colorful musical about a boy named Joseph and his amazing technicolor dreamcoat, gifted to him by his father, Jacob. Joseph is Jacob’s favorite son, which makes his brothers very jealous. After Joseph tells them about his strange dreams, the brothers sell him and send him away to Egypt!
Even though Joseph faces many challenges, he stays hopeful and discovers he has a special talent for interpreting dreams. His gift helps Pharaoh prepare Egypt for a huge famine, and Joseph becomes an important leader. But will he ever reunite with his brothers and father? Get your tickets to find out!
This production stars Krista Farrell as “The Narrator” and Mike Mags as “Joseph.” Krista Farrell is a UNH graduate and a longtime performer at the Rochester Opera House, most recently seen as “Sally” in The Lightning Thief. While Mike Mags is making his Opera House debut, this will be his EIGHTH TIME performing in this musical.
The show is full of catchy songs, dancing, humor, and colorful costumes, and it teaches lessons about kindness, forgiveness, and believing in yourself. It’s a wonderful, nostalgic, family-friendly event, perfect for a fun night out!
