State of NH: Open Snowmobile Registration Weekend is February 28 to March 2, 2025

Published on

As foliage season ends across much of the Granite State, it’s time for snowmobile enthusiasts nationwide to start planning for New Hampshire’s Open Snowmobile Registration Weekend. From Friday, February 28, through Sunday, March 2, 2025, riders from New England, the U.S., and Canada will have the opportunity to explore New Hampshire’s 7,000+ miles of picturesque snowmobile trails.

During the 3-day Open Snowmobile Registration Weekend, snowmobiles legally registered in other states and provinces can be operated on New Hampshire trails without requiring additional state registration. However, all New Hampshire laws and regulations regarding snowmobile operation will be enforced, including speed limits, safety equipment, landowner permission letters, compliant exhaust systems, and youth operation standards.

“This weekend is a highlight of the winter season for many resident and non-resident riders,” said NH Fish and Game Law Enforcement Captain Michael Eastman, who oversees snowmobile and off-highway recreational vehicle enforcement, registration, and safety education for the department. “It’s a great opportunity for both residents and visitors to explore some of the most beautiful parts of the state, best accessed by snowmobile in winter.”

Open Snowmobile Registration Weekend is an annual event. New Hampshire residents can also look to other New England states and Canadian provinces for similar registration weekends in January and February of 2025.
