The Franklin Gallery to feature works by Amy Kindler in February

The Franklin Gallery at RiverStones Custom Framing, 33 N. Main Street in Rochester, will host an exhibit during the month of February featuring the artwork of local Rochester artist Amy Kindler. An opening reception will be held on Friday, February 2, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.

The exhibit will feature the first of many paintings and drawings by Amy called “Every Tribe, Every Nation,” which depicts people of all ages from all corners of the earth. Amy’s artwork is inspired by photos taken by her or friends who have traveled and lived around the world. Her vision for this project is far-reaching; she hopes to eventually publish a book of the images she has created and, when possible, tell the stories of the people represented in the art.

“Amy has a way of capturing the personality, character, and spirit of her subjects through these portraits,” says Kris Ebbeson, proprietor of RiverStones Custom Framing and the Franklin Gallery. “Her wish is that those who come into the Gallery to view them will engage with the portraits and use their imaginations to envision something about their own lives and perhaps identify with the subjects in some way.”

A very spiritual person, Amy says, “My joy for art is to create God’s magnificence, to speak to His nature, through His creation and through the character, personalities, and beauty of the people that inspire my portraits.”

Amy Kindler’s artistic journey is marked by a rich educational background. She has traveled throughout the United States and abroad and has visited many art museums and galleries. She spent a year in Coventry, England as Assistant Drama Director at Coventry Cathedral and assisted in the production of plays in the Cathedral.

She then attended the University of New Hampshire for two years taking advanced courses in drawing, painting, and sculpture. Eager to expand her artistic horizons, Amy pursued additional education at the Art Students League in New York City, further developing her skills in painting and drawing before attending the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.  Amy’s range of disciplines, including graphic design, fine art, and photography, has laid the foundation for her multifaceted approach to art through a variety of mediums.

During the exhibition, attendees have the unique opportunity to order a custom portrait by Amy Kindler. As a token of appreciation, those who order a portrait during February will enjoy a 15% discount on framing when choosing RiverStones Custom Framing, the official framing partner located at the venue. Additionally, a 5% framing discount is available for those who opt to frame the portrait elsewhere.

RiverStones Custom Framing and the Franklin Gallery are open Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. For information about this exhibit and other RiverStones events and services, call Kris at 603-812-1488 or visit the RiverStones website or Facebook page.
