A message from the Rochester Opera House:
This Fall, the Rochester Opera House is bringing a diverse lineup of music, film, and live entertainment to its historic stage, along with new sessions of Studio 2 Stage and other arts education programs and classes.
Saturday, October 24, hip-hop pioneers Arrested Development will take the Rochester Opera House stage! Arrested Development has built a career around music, cultural expression, consciousness, and empowerment. Their eclectic sound incorporates vibrant African influences, creating a distinctive blend of rhythms and styles that challenges traditional experiences of classical hip-hop. The group has released numerous albums and toured around the world. Their album “3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life Of…” earned two Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Best Rap Single for “Tennessee,” along with two MTV Awards, a Soul Train Music Award, and an NAACP Image Award. There are still tickets left!
You didn’t think the Rochester Opera House would go through the Fall season without a spooky event… did you? We’re bringing “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” back to the big screen for two special Halloween-season screenings on October 29 and 30 at 9:30 p.m. This is not a quiet movie night.
Audiences are encouraged to dress up, sing along, bring their friends, and leave their inhibitions at the door for a theatrical celebration of one of cinema’s most unforgettable cult classics. This special screening will also serve as a celebration of the late Tim Curry and his iconic performance as Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
The Opera House promises an experience filled with theatricality, energy, and plenty of surprises. What surprises? You’ll have to come and do the Time Warp again to find out! Boston’s premier Iron Maiden tribute, Mostly Maiden, is coming to the Rochester Opera House on Friday,
November 13 at 7:30 p.m., with doors, bar, and concessions opening at 6:30 p.m. Mostly Maiden delivers a fully live, no-backing-tracks performance built around dual-lead guitar harmonies, galloping bass, thunderous drums, and soaring vocals. The set spans Iron Maiden classics including The Number of the Beast, “2 Minutes to Midnight,” “Aces High,” and “Wasted Years,” along with deep cuts from Judas Priest, Dio, Black Sabbath, Motörhead, and beyond!
Have a kid that wants to dive into the world of music but doesn’t know where to start? Studio 2 Stage gives young musicians the opportunity to learn in a collaborative band environment while developing both their musical and performance skills. Students participate in a weekly group rehearsal where they learn classic rock songs, explore music theory, and learn best practices for mixing and recording. The fall session runs Tuesdays from 3:30–5:00 p.m., October 6 through December 1, with eight weeks of group instruction. Participating students can also take advantage of weekly private music lessons with an RPAC instructor at 50% off, giving students additional one-on-one instruction in the concepts, techniques, and skills behind their chosen instrument.
