Northeast Passage to host Midwest Sled Hockey League in Rochester

Published on

Northeast Passage is hosting the Midwest Sled Hockey League for a weekend of elite sled hockey games at the Rochester Arena, located at 63 Lowell Street.

Sled hockey is an ice sport that allows individuals with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy and participate in the popular winter sport. Sled hockey is played as a team sport and the concepts and rules are the same as “stand-up” hockey. Instead of standing up to skate, participants sit on an adaptive device known as a sled. To propel themselves, players use two shortened hockey sticks with a blade on one end and metal picks for propulsion on the other end.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see sled hockey players in action, including many TEAM USA PARALYMPIANS from across the country. Games will start at 6pm on Friday, October 21st and will conclude at 1pm on Sunday, October 23rd. Visit Rec.RochesterNH.gov for a full schedule.
