City considers rezoning old DPW facility, public hearing scheduled

Published on

Rochester City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, January 17th regarding the potential rezoning of the former Public Works facility on Old Dover Road.

According to a summary provided in the agenda packet, The City Council is proposing a change in zoning for the 3 parcels making up the old Department of Public Works facility, as well as 3 adjacent parcels.

These 6 parcels are currently classified as General Industrial and the Council feels a change in zoning is warranted so that any future development would more closely match the residential zoning of the surrounding area.

These parcels would be rezoned from General Industrial (GI) to Residential 2 (R2), with that change in zoning only affecting future development in that area and not the currently established businesses.

The public hearing and workshop is scheduled for 6pm in Council Chambers, Rochester City Hall, 31 Wakefield Street. The public is encouraged to attend and provide input. To provide input online, click here. Please note, online public input must be received no later than 4pm.
