Cornerstone VNA Seeks Volunteer Balance Coaches

Published on

Cornerstone VNA, your local nonprofit home health and hospice care organization, is looking for volunteers to join their well-received ‘A Matter of Balance’ (MOB) program as a Volunteer Balance Coach.

MOB is designed to help community members manage concerns about falls and increase physical activity by attending a special 4-week program led by Balance Coaches.  Volunteer Balance Coaches are specially trained to help participants become more confident about managing falls, identify ways to reduce falls and lead exercises to help increase strength and balance.

According to Judy Goodnow, Cornerstone VNA Volunteer Balance Coach, “Participants really enjoyed the class and felt that it helped with their balance and stability.”

The next training will take place on August 30 and 31, from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm at the Cornerstone VNA main office on 178 Farmington Road in Rochester, NH.  No previous experience is needed to become ‘A Matter of Balance’ Volunteer Coach.  Once trained, volunteers will be assigned in pairs to facilitate community balance programs that will take place over a 4-week period for two 2-hour sessions each week.  Volunteers are asked to facilitate at least two ‘A Matter of Balance’ programs per year.

If you are interested in joining this outstanding volunteer team, please contact Katie Michaud, MS, OTR/L at kmichaud@cornerstonevna.org or 603-332-1133 x1186.  You can also find additional details at www.cornerstonevna.org/volunteer/.
