Groen Construction, a leading commercial general contractor and early adopter of Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) technology, proudly celebrates its 25th anniversary, highlighting a legacy grounded in faith, innovation, and family values.
Founded in a basement office of the Groen family home in Rochester, NH, the company began as Groen Builders with a single green Dodge Ram and a shared vision between founder Fenton Groen and his sons, Dave and Joe. Fenton’s brother, Warren, joined in 2002, strengthening the growing enterprise.
Initially focused on residential work, Groen Builders pivoted in 2001 by embracing ICF technology, positioning itself as a leader in this energy-efficient building method. This strategic move laid the groundwork for a shift into commercial construction, culminating in the launch of a dedicated commercial division in 2014 and a rebrand to Groen Construction in 2016.
Since then, the company has completed over 40 commercial projects across five states, earning a reputation for high-quality craftsmanship, efficiency, and innovation.
Faith has remained central to the company’s mission since day one. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,” says Fenton Groen, quoting Colossians 3:23. He credits this scripture with guiding the company’s journey and values.
Following Fenton’s retirement earlier this year, sons Dave (President) and Joe (VP of Strategic Development) continue to lead with the same principles: integrity, quality, respect, service, teamwork, and safety. Under their leadership, Groen Construction remains committed to delivering exceptional commercial projects while fostering strong relationships with employees, subcontractors, and clients, who are all treated like family.
