NH Fish & Game: “Introduction to Map and Compass” Workshop Will Be Offered 6/28

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to navigate in the outdoors using a map and compass, now is your chance.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department’s Owl Brook Hunter Education Center will host an introductory Map and Compass Navigation Workshop on Saturday, June 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend.

This workshop is designed for beginners and anyone interested in refreshing their outdoor navigation skills. Participants will learn the fundamentals of using a compass and reading a topographic map. The session will begin in the classroom, where attendees will become familiar with the parts of a compass, how they function, and how to interpret a topographic map. The workshop will then move outdoors for hands-on practice using these tools together to plan a route and navigate the Owl Brook map and compass course.

Registration is required and must be completed online. To sign up, visit:

Lunch will not be provided; however, a short break will be scheduled for those who wish to bring their own lunch. This is a rain-or-shine event, so please dress appropriately for the weather. For more information about the Owl Brook Hunter Education Center, visit:
