Public Works: Fire Hydrant Flushing Scheduled May 4 – June 13

The City of Rochester will begin flushing fire hydrants on May 4, 2025, and the process will continue through June 13, 2025. Most flushing will take place between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., and is expected to be completed within six weeks.

As a result of the flushing, you may notice slight discoloration in your water. If this occurs, it may clear up by running your cold water tap for several minutes. Customers may also experience low water pressure while flushing is in progress. It is recommended that residents check their water for discoloration or pressure issues before bathing or doing laundry.

If you have any questions or concerns, or if discoloration does not clear up, please contact the Rochester Public Works Department during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at (603) 332-4096.
