Recreation Department to keep public pools open on July 4th holiday

The Rochester Recreation Department is pleased to announce that all public pools will be open on Tuesday, July 4th. Celebrate Independence Day with a refreshing swim at the following pool locations:

  • East Rochester Pool – Green Street/Cocheco Ave, East Rochester, NH 03868
Located in the back of the Nancy Loud School on Green Street off Portland Ave.
  • Gonic Pool – Railroad Ave. Gonic, NH 03839
Located at Gonic School on Railroad Ave off Pickering Road.
  • Hanson Pines Pool & Kiddie Pool – 24 Yeagley Way, Rochester, NH 03867
Located on Yeagley Way in front of the Spaulding High School.

The pools will be open from 12 pm to 5 pm on July 4th. Residents are reminded that children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult, and adults will be required to show proof of residency upon entry.

According to staff, it’s “a wonderful opportunity for residents to cool off and have fun with their families and friends during the holiday”.

“The Rec. Department wishes everyone a happy and safe 4th of July!” said Nicole Lee, Marketing Program Coordinator.

In the event of thunder and/or lightning, pools will be temporarily closed for at least 30 minutes after the last visual of lightning or audible thunder. Lifeguards will monitor the situation and determine when it is safe to reopen the pools after the mandatory 30-minute waiting period.

Please note, while the pools are open on July 4th, Recreation and Arena offices, including the Rochester Senior Activity Center, will be closed for the holiday. For more information, call (603) 332-4120.
