The Teen Summer Reading Program kicks off at 5:00 p.m. in the Community Room on Monday, June 15. Teens between the ages of 12 and 18 (or 11 if entering 6th grade in the fall) can enjoy ice cream, activities, music, and prizes. They can sign up on the Beanstack app or online at www.rplnhreads.beanstack.org.
Teens who read at least 120 minutes per week will get a chance to spin the wheel for a variety of weekly prizes:
- A Golick’s Ice Cream coupon or a Jersey Mike’s Sub coupon
- A Smencil or multi-colored pen
- A bookmark or sticker
- A book of their choice
Weekly gift card prizes from BarnZ’s Cinema and Hong Asian Noodle Bar will be awarded randomly to participating readers.
Raffle prizes will be awarded at the end of the summer and include art supplies, reading baskets, an MP3 player, Owala water bottles, Bluetooth headphones, Legos, tickets to the Sea Dogs, and great prizes donated by many Rochester businesses, including Tri-City Bikes, Jetpack Comics, Skeletones, and Potters!
Programs will run all summer long, starting with Bring Back the Trades on June 30. Teens can sign up for various programs, including decoupage, planting, LEGO Coding, Dungeons & Dragons, Mud City Clay, and Create Your Own Comics, presented by Ryan Higgins.
Drop-in activities will be held every Wednesday between 2:30 and 4:00 p.m., and book groups and writing groups will meet monthly. Details can be found on the website at www.rpl.lib.us.nh/teens.
“This Teen Summer Reading Program is going to be the best one yet,” said Amy Lemelin, Teen Librarian.
