Now through the end of September, the Franklin Gallery, 33 N. Main Street in Rochester, presents “Tidbits,” an offering of abstract paintings by The Abstract3. Originally called The Abstract4, one of their members, Barbara Adams, passed away early this summer. Despite their sad loss, the group decided to carry on and press on with their mission of trying varied approaches to painting abstractly.
“This exhibit at the Franklin Gallery will be a smorgasbord of sorts as we try and regroup and begin our journey without our former friend and collaborator Barbara, who it must be said, was the organizing and motivating energy that kept us on our toes,” says Tom Glover.  The group started about 5 years ago with a show in Portsmouth at what is now the Portsmouth Historic Society.
“We had such a good experience working together that we decided to meet at Peter’s studio, give ourselves a name, and then begin to form ideas for shows. Since that first show we have had multiple shows each year, a series of shows which gave us a chance to bond and really push ideas around concerning abstraction and different painters we follow.”
The Abstract3 is now made up of Dustin Knight, Peter Cady, and Tom Glover. In this show, you will see some of the “tidbits” they have been working on.
The exhibit is available for viewing during RiverStones Custom Framing’s regular business hours:  Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. For information about this exhibit, call (603) 812-1488.
