The Library will be closed on November 11 for Veteran’s Day. Stop by the library to see our book and DVD displays in honor of that day. Also, the Children’s Room has a new Take it & Make it Craft kit available on November 6th.

On Display
In honor of Veteran’s Day, we have two new displays of books and DVDs titled Thank You for your Service. Stop by and check out these selections.

Hoopla Audio Book Recommendation
Main Desk Librarian, Stephanie, says : “Are you ready to listen to a thriller with a unique plot twist? Never Saw Me Coming by Vera Kurian features a different kind of protagonist. Chloe Sevre is a student at a DC area college. She is a psychopath. The thing is, she is one of seven, all offered a free ride to attend this college as part of a study by a well-known psychologist and professor who is an expert on the field. These students are never supposed to meet, just check in on an app and record their emotions over the course of their days and meet with the professor. Chloe is willing to be part of this study because she has an ulterior motive, a boy attends this particular college. One who wronged her and she is seeking revenge. Will she succeed in her plan? Will the identities of these select students remain a secret from each other? Listen to this audiobook and find out! You can listen instantly with hoopla, no waiting. Or read the book, we have it available for checkout!”

Cardboard Tube Fox ~ Take It & Make It Craft
Kids can make an adorable fox using our Take It & Take It Craft.  Families can pick up a kit beginning Saturday, November 6 through Saturday, November 13, or until they are gone. Pick-up times are during library open hours only. The kits will be inside the Children’s Room entryway. (One kit per child please.)

You will need a toilet paper tube for this month’s craft. The following is a list of supplies to have on hand for the take-home crafts we offer. Many of them are probably things that are already in the home or easy to find. You may or may not be using every item listed.

Craft glue, white glue, and/or a glue stick; scissors; transparent tape & masking tape (or washi tape); crayons; watercolor paints; acrylic/craft paints; assorted brushes.

Markers (washable); hot glue gun ( for ADULT use ONLY); white & assorted colored cardstock; construction paper; cardboard t.p. tube; black permanent marker

Story Time to Go: This will continue for those who prefer using our curbside service. Reserve a themed pre-packed bag with library books, a simple craft idea with directions, and a set of activities by calling the Children’s Room at 603-335-7549. These kits are geared for kids aged 2 through 6. Call 603-335-7549 to ask us about available themes.

DVD Movie Recommendation
Main Desk Librarian, Stephanie, has another film recommendation this week. “One of my very favorite movies is I’m Not Scared, an Italian film set in a small town in the late 1970s and revolves around an idyllic summer in the life of 9-year-old Michele (wonderfully acted by Giuseppe Cristiano). While playing with his sister and their friends in an abandoned building, Michele makes a discovery that will change his life and the lives of those closest to him. The countryside setting is beautiful and the events that unfold are based on real incidents that took place in Italy around that time. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys foreign films and is not afraid of subtitles!”
