Chamber of Commerce To Kick Off the Holiday Season with Tree Lighting

Published on

The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is pleased to light up the season with the annual Holiday Tree Lighting. The Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held this Friday, December 2, 2022 from 5:30- 6:30pm at Central Square in downtown Rochester. This event, underwritten by First Seacoast Bank, will include the ceremony and lighting of Rochester’s tree for the first time to kick off the 2022 Holiday Season.

This year’s tree was donated by the Sbrizza Family on Fortier Drive. The tree was there at the property when they bought the home and the Sbrizza’s have enjoyed decorating it for the season each year since. This year, as the tree has grown too large for them to continue with decorations, the Sbrizza’s thought donating it would be great idea and the entire City could enjoy its beauty. The tree is a beautiful blue spruce that is estimated to be 30 feet tall.

SaveATree Company (formerly Urban Tree) donated staff and equipment to assist the City of Rochester DPW with the removal on Fortier Drive and the installation of the tree downtown. Quintyn Gregg and Justin Cutter of SaveATree did an excellent job assisting Joe Sanborn, George Steele, Scott Richey and Paul Michaud of the Rochester DPW to make sure it was put perfectly into place and secured for the season.

This year’s decorations were made by the Rochester Elementary Schools and the Children at the YMCA Child Care Center. DPW Staff will be assisted with the trimming of the tree by the students of the Monarch School of New England.

For more information about the Holiday Tree Lighting, including the full program of activities and Collection for the Homeless, or for information and entry forms for Rochester’s “A Rock & Roll Christmas” Holiday Parade on Sunday, December 4, please contact the Chamber office at 603-332-5080 or visit: www.rochesternh.org.
