WATCH: History of the original Rochester Country Club

Published on

Earlier this week, the Rochester Historical Society & Museum released a docu-video that takes a closer look at Rochester’s first Country Club, which was built in 1904.

According to the video, the original Country Club was located at the far end of Walnut Street and Snow Street, which was all open property at the time. The Club included a golf course, tennis court, and clubhouse.

Today, the area (Chasse, Lyons, Kendall, and Duquette Street) shows no evidence that a Country Club existed there over a century ago.

The Rochester Historical Society & Museum is located on Hanson Street, in downtown Rochester. Open Thursdays from 1-4pm and for special events. Visit www.rochesternh.gov/history to learn more.
