Waypoint nominated for National Runaway Prevention Month (NRPM) Award

Published on

National Runaway Safeline (NRS) recently announced that Waypoint has been nominated for a 2022 National Runaway Prevention Month (NRPM) Award. These awards recognize NRPM partners who have executed the most creative, effective, and engaging NRPM campaigns in their local communities.

Back in November, Waypoint partnered with the Rochester Police Department and the City of Rochester to support National Runaway Prevention Month (NRPM), an annual public awareness campaign designed to “shine a (green) light” on youth experiencing homelessness and those who have run away from home. Organizers encouraged the greater Rochester community to wear/display green to help raise awareness.

According to NRS, the team paid close attention to the activities organized by hundreds of partners on social media and in the news and identified Waypoint as having an exceptional campaign. Waypoint has been nominated for the Greenest Team Award, along with two other organizations.

Mayor Paul Callaghan congratulated the Waypoint team on their nomination, calling it well-deserved.

“The team at Waypoint is incredible,” said Callaghan. “The work they do to assist the youth of this community is commendable and we’re happy to have them in Rochester.”

The 2nd Annual National Runaway Prevention Month (NRPM) Awards Ceremony & Celebration will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. The ceremony will be held virtually via Zoom to celebrate collective accomplishments and recognize outstanding efforts and unique contributions.
