Frisbie donates 5k and approximately 750 meals to NH Food Bank

Frisbie Memorial Hospital will be donating $5,000 to NH Food Bank to support its mission of feeding hungry people throughout the Granite State. The hospital also donated over 900 pounds of food items, which equates to approximately 750 meals, resulting from its participation in HCA Healthcare’s Healthy Food for Healthier Tomorrows Food and Nutrition Drive.

“I was very excited when I received the news that Frisbie was the recipient of the $5,000 prize,” said Tim Jones, CEO of Frisbie Memorial Hospital. “Colleagues, and even entire departments, graciously stepped up to donate over 1,200 items of food. It really is a testament that our healthcare heroes continue to care for patients outside hospital walls and an example of Frisbie’s long-standing commitment to supporting the communities it serves.”

HCA Healthcare Capital Division awarded $5,000 to Frisbie Memorial Hospital as a prize for creating the best structure made up of donated food items. Frisbie competed against Capital Division’s other 18 healthcare facilities, including Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Parkland Medical Center, which donated 800 and 625 pounds worth of food, respectively.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Frisbie Memorial Hospital and HCA Healthcare Foundation for their generous support of the NH Food Bank,” said Eileen Liponis, Executive Director, NH Food Bank. “One in nine people here in NH face food insecurity, including 12% of children. These funds, which will allow us to provide approximately 10,000 meals, are crucial in our efforts to get food on the tables of our friends and neighbors in communities throughout the Granite State.”

Over 42 million Americans are food insecure. HCA Healthcare’s Healthy Food for Healthier Tomorrows Food and Nutrition Drive offers its facilities an opportunity to make a difference and positive impact on someone’s life by collecting and providing healthy, nutritious foods for those struggling with hunger and food insecurity in our communities.
