The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is pleased to announce that New Hampshire will offer the Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (S-EBT) program for a third consecutive year. S-EBT provides additional funds to families with eligible school-aged children to purchase groceries during the summer months when school meals are not available.
“Summer EBT is a lifeline for kids and families, helping ensure that every child has the nourishment they need to grow, learn, and enjoy their summer,” said DHHS Commissioner Lori Weaver. “It eases the weight of food insecurity and brings peace of mind to households across our communities. We are grateful for programs like Summer EBT that help ensure the health and wellbeing of children in every corner of our state.”
School-aged children who attend a school enrolled in the National School Lunch Program/School Breakfast Program (NSLP/SBP) and are financially eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals are eligible for S-EBT, which is a one-time issuance of $120 per eligible child. DHHS expects S-EBT benefits to be available by July 17, 2026.
There are several ways families may be eligible for S-EBT for the 2025-2026 school year:
- If their student was enrolled in the NSLP/SBP and received assistance through the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Medicaid (if income eligible). These families will automatically receive S-EBT benefits by July 17, 2026, unless they opt out of the program. Families with a card from previous years will be issued S-EBT benefits on that card.
- If their student was enrolled in the NSLP/SBP but did not receive assistance through SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid. These families will automatically receive S-EBT benefits but must provide DHHS their mailing address through the NH EASY address portal to get their S-EBT card.
- If their student was not enrolled in the NSLP/SBP and did not receive SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid assistance. These families must apply for S-EBT and may be eligible if they meet income guidelines and the student attended an NSLP/SBP-participating school. Any family who has questions about their eligibility can call (603) 271-7373.
Summer EBT is one of several nutrition programs offered in communities across the State that supports children and youth during the summer months. Other programs include summer meal sites, programs offered through New Hampshire school districts, SNAP, and the Got Lunch program in some local cities and towns.
