Rochester Farmers Market attracts more than 350 visitors on opening day

The 2022 season of the Rochester Farmers’ Market opened for the 7th season, on Tuesday, June 14th, at Rochester Common.

Dedicated volunteers were on hand to help with setup and breakdown, ensuring that the entire market ran smoothly. Over 350 visitors were in attendance, which is almost 100 more than last year’s opening day.

“The market is a wonderful community event that provides residents an opportunity to purchase local nutritious foods and supports farmers in selling their products directly to consumers,” said Carole Glenn, Administrative Assistant in the City of Rochester’s Economic Development Department. It’s great to see so many people enjoying the live music and buying local food. People see friends and neighbors, and it’s a social event that brings the community together.”

According to Glenn, the market is fortunate to partner with Seacoast Eat Local to accept SNAP/EBT. The program also matches SNAP/EBT dollars with market match money for fruits and vegetables, doubling the benefit for families.

The Rochester Farmers’ Market runs every Tuesday from 3:00-6:00pm, at the Rochester Common, with a variety of local musicians providing entertainment each week. Visit www.rochesternhfarmersmarket.com for more information.
