A message from the Rochester Historical Society and Museum:
The Rochester Historical Society is deeply honored to announce a remarkable guest speaker who will help us celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation.
On June 10, 2026, we will welcome Master Gunnery Sergeant Kurt Dupuis (Retired), currently residing in Virginia. With a distinguished 30-year career—including more than 25 years as Principal Trumpet with “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band—he will share his extraordinary experiences.
Founded in 1798 by an Act of Congress, “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band is the oldest continuously active professional musical organization in America. Its mission is to provide music for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the Marine Corps.
During his presentation, Mr. Dupuis will share photos and stories from his career, which included serving six U.S. Presidents. He will recount significant events both domestically and internationally, including a memorable performance of “Taps” from the White House portico that some of our members may recall seeing on national television.
A Spaulding High School graduate (Class of 1985), Mr. Dupuis currently serves as 2nd/Associate Principal Trumpet with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra. He will travel to Rochester on June 8 to join us for this special event and will return to Virginia on June 11 to perform in two opera productions at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts this summer.
We are incredibly grateful for his willingness to visit us and help make this 250th anniversary celebration a truly memorable milestone for our organization.
More detailed information about this special event will be forthcoming. Be sure to watch for notifications from us.
Sincerely,
Ralph Montgomery, RHS President
