Smitten Yarn Co. comes to Downtown Rochester

Victorian yarn emporium, Smitten Yarn Co., is set to open in the historic and recently renovated 86 Wakefield Street, to the right of Studley’s Flower Gardens.

Set in a historic Victorian-era manor, Smitten Yarn Co. is not only a shopping destination but an experience. From the stained glass windows that greet you upon arrival to the meticulously curated selection of fibers, Smitten Yarn Co. offers a wholly unique, colorful, and enriching experience for every maker at any level of experience.

“I’ve loved curating and filling this shop with wonderful fiber and I’m so excited to share it with others,” said Dawn McGill, owner of Smitten Yarn Co.

“The interiors and website for Smitten Yarn Co. were designed by the talented Callie Centilla, a Rochester resident and recent college graduate taught by Walt Disney Company Imagineers,” McGill reached out to Centilla when choosing a UI/UX designer for her company. “We are so excited to have her artistry on display.”

“I’m absolutely thrilled with how well the shop came together. It’s definitely a one of a kind yarn shop experience!” explained McGill. After starting and running multiple creative businesses, McGill has a passion for helping others create with their hands and offers supplies and classes for knitting, crochet, spinning, macrame, needle felting, and embroidery.

“We are excited to welcome Dawn and Smitten Yarn Co. to downtown,” said Jennifer Marsh, Economic Development Specialist for the City of Rochester. “Dawn and her team have done such a wonderful job renovating the interior and exterior of the building. They have done such an amazing job creating a space that makes you want to stay and spend a few hours!”

The grand opening is set for Saturday, August 22 from 11am to 7pm. The public is encouraged to attend. Masks are mandatory. Hand sanitizer is available at the door. A wide selection of products are already available online.

Smitten Yarn Co. is located at 86 Wakefield Street, in downtown Rochester, NH 03867. The shop will be open Monday through Saturday 11am to 7pm and Sunday 12pm to 5pm. Visit www.smittenyarnco.com to learn more.
