Vouchers for Veterans gearing up to honor Veterans at Rochester Common, flag sponsorships available

Published on

Vouchers for Veterans, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and feeding veterans, is proud to announce the 2023 Field of Honor display, beginning May 27th and concluding on the evening of May 29th, 2023. The event is hosted by the City of Rochester and will be displayed at the Rochester Common, located on South Main Street.

The Field of Honor consists of 550 flagpoles, each flying a 3×5 ft. flag with a yellow ribbon and a laminated card identifying the honored Veteran with their name, branch, and rank, along with the branch seal/patch graphically displayed on the card. According to organizers, the display “is an unforgettable experience, hard to describe, but never to be forgotten.”

Organizers of the event encourage community members to dedicate a flag to a Veteran, living or passed. If community members do not have a specific Veteran to honor, Vouchers for Veterans will select a fallen hero on their behalf. Veterans who have given their lives serving their country will be identified with a small black cross on their placards.

A limited number of flags are available, and all sales will end on May 15, 2023, or when sold out. To pay by mail, interested parties may download a printable mail order form or dedicate a flag online at www.vouchersforveterans.org.

The Field of Honor display is an opportunity to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice. Vouchers for Veterans is honored to sponsor such an important event and encourages members of the community to participate in this unique and moving experience.
