Department of Business and Economic Affairs recognizes City of Rochester as a Housing Champion

Published on

On December 19, the New Hampshire Department of Business and Economic Affairs (BEA) recognized the City of Rochester with a ‘Housing Champion’ designation, highlighting the City’s efforts to advance regional housing solutions that align with state-wide goals.

The BEA is the premier resource for businesses considering expansion in, or relocation to, New Hampshire, as well as people seeking a home in a place where they can balance their careers amid the natural beauty it offers. Dedicated to enhancing the economic vitality of the state and promoting it as a destination for domestic and international visitors, BEA is comprised of the Division of Economic Development, the Division of Planning & Community Development, and the Division of Travel and Tourism Development.

“We are honored to accept this recognition from the BEA,” said Michael Scala, Director of Economic Development. “This designation will provide the city access to several programs to help us fund and develop more affordable housing throughout Rochester.”

As a Housing Champion, Rochester can apply for additional grants from the BEA. These include the Housing Production Municipal Grant Fund ($1.5 million) and the Housing Infrastructure Municipal Grant ($3.5 million), which open in January 2025. The grants will support affordable housing projects and infrastructure upgrades.
