Exploring play-based learning in the home environment

Published on

The Rochester Public Library is pleased to announce a collaboration with the UNH Early Childhood Education Coaching Initiative to present a caregiver workshop on Wednesday, September 14th from 6:30-7:30pm.

The objective of the workshop is to provide more information about play-based learning and its benefits, explore the use of open-ended materials and how to support child-led learning in the home environment, and develop strategies to support children to become engaging and interactive play participants.

According to children’s librarian Christina Paquette, the program is an educational opportunity for caregivers of children birth to age six.

“The Children’s Room is excited to be working with the team from the UNH Early Childhood Education Coaching Initiative to bring this workshop to our community,” said Paquette. “We hope to show families that implementing play-based learning is easy to do with items people already have in their homes.”

Registration is required. Contact (603) 335-7549 or rplchildrensrm@gmail.com for registration and general inquiries.

This activity is supported by the Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five Initiative (PDG B- 5), Grant Number 90TP0060, from the Office of Child Care, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The Rochester Public Library is located at 65 South Main Street, Rochester, NH 03867. Visit www.rpl.lib.nh.us to learn more.
