Rochester Main Street is pleased to announce the conclusion of the Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt and announce the raffle winners.

In early August 2022, Rochester Main Street caused quite a stir when a parody article was released warning residents of several Bigfoot sightings. The article was shared widely and received regional attention, garnering more than 61k views on The Rochester Post and a flurry of social media posts.

The purpose of the article was to tease a scavenger hunt that encouraged families to explore downtown Rochester. 10 colorful Bigfoot cutouts were hidden in various locations and a QR code led participants to a website that featured a series of clues to help locate each Bigfoot. At the end of the activity, participants were given the option to enter their contact information for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the downtown business of their choice.

4 winners were selected to receive a gift card. Each participant chose a business and shared their experience:

  “My daughter Rylie and I had a fun time reading through all the clues and putting our detective skills to work! Being able to walk around downtown and talk with others in the community was also a great time. We just love all the hard work everyone is putting in to revitalize the town.”

  “We had so much fun walking around and taking pictures! We definitely discovered new places and it helped us remember that we have a downtown to visit more often! Thank you so much!”

  “We’ve always heard rumors about Bigfoot sightings in the Rochester area, but now we know there’s more than one… And we have proof! He didn’t smell as bad as they say and he actually was pretty cool! It was a silly land fun adventure with the kids. Every business put a personal touch on their Bigfoot and we spent the afternoon walking around and looking in the downtown shops as we passed along, which we wouldn’t typically do. Thank you for creating this fun activity for the community! We truly had a great time!”

  “My husband and I took our dogs on the scavenger hunt about an hour before it got dark. We enjoyed walking around and seeing some of the fun ways the Bigfeet were decorated. The downtown lights came on when it got dark so we could still see. We even ran into another family participating in the hunt as well. Great job!”
