Rochester Public Library to showcase elementary student art

The Children’s Room, at the Rochester Public Library, is collaborating with Rochester Elementary Schools to provide exhibition space for rotating student art displays.

According to Children’s Librarian Christina Paquette, the Children’s Room is the perfect place for art, as the Library has a long history of showcasing local artists.

“When the RMFA began installing murals on our building, I thought, why not fill the Children’s Room with children’s art,” said Pauquette. “It seemed like a fun way to enhance our relationship with the schools and meet new families.”

Elementary art teacher Marcey Buchakjian says the exhibits will feature a diverse selection of artwork made by K-5 students from around Rochester.

This first exhibit will be a sampling of art from William Allen, School Street, Nancy Loud, and Maple Street Magnet Schools, grades K-5,” said Buchakjian. “The initiative begins Tuesday, March 2 and will run through late May!”

The Rochester Public Library is located at 65 South Main Street. Visit www.rpl.lib.nh.us or call (603) 335-7549 for inquiries and additional information.
