Rochester Recreation and Arena Celebrates Successful Youth Basketball Season

The Rochester Recreation and Arena proudly announces the conclusion of yet another rewarding season of Youth Basketball, extending gratitude to all who contributed to its success.

As the season wraps up, Rochester Recreation and Arena extends a huge “THANK YOU” to the dedicated volunteers, referees, program leads, Spaulding High School players and coaches, and supportive families who made this season possible.

The Youth Basketball program, which includes children from 1st grade through high school, saw remarkable participation this year. Under the guidance of 30 volunteer coaches, 286 kids from 3rd grade through high school participated across 28 teams. With the support of the Rochester School District, practices were held on weeknights at elementary schools throughout Rochester and in the Rec Center Gym.

At the 1st and 2nd grade level, student coaches from the Spaulding High School basketball teams played a pivotal role in promoting growth, sportsmanship, and development. These players led sessions focused on fundamental skills and drills, enriching the experience for young participants.

The dedication of volunteers was evident throughout the season, with over 250 hours invested in practices and games. Special recognition goes to Youth Basketball Program Leads, Dave Robart and Paul Cormier, whose tireless efforts ensured the program’s smooth operation. Pre-season clinics, facilitated by Play-Practice Basketball and Spaulding High School Boys Basketball Coaches, further prepared players and coaches for the challenges ahead.

The support of parents and guardians was invaluable, with packed gyms every Saturday resonating with cheers and encouragement. Their unwavering support, through victories and defeats, learning moments, and memorable experiences, truly made this season one to remember.
