City Council Appoints Newly Elected Debby Thompson to Fill Vacant Ward 1/Seat A Position

Published on

On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, City Councilor Patricia Turner (Ward 1/Seat A) resigned in a letter to Mayor Callaghan, citing family needs and work responsibilities.

City Council accepted the resignation and declared the seat vacant. With the municipal election scheduled for November 4, 2025, the Council did not immediately appoint an interim member.

Following the certification of the election, Debby Thompson, the winning candidate for Ward 1/Seat A, was appointed to complete the remainder of Turner’s current term and begin her own term following the City Council inauguration in January 2026.

On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, during the City Council Workshop, City Attorney Terence O’Rourke administered the oath of office, and Thompson took her place on the dais.
