The City of Rochester is seeking residents interested in serving as alternate members of the Planning Board. The board currently has four vacant alternate positions and is encouraging community members to apply.

The Planning Board is responsible for carrying out the duties and responsibilities established under New Hampshire law, including reviewing development proposals, subdivision applications, site plans, and matters related to long-range planning and land use.

The board consists of nine members, including the City Manager or designee, a City Council representative, and seven appointed members. Up to five alternate members may also be appointed. Alternate members participate in meetings and may serve in place of regular members when needed. Members are appointed to three-year terms following nomination by the Mayor and confirmation by the City Council.

The Planning Board generally meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers at Rochester City Hall, 31 Wakefield Street. Residents with an interest in planning, development, and the future growth of Rochester are encouraged to apply.

Individuals interested in serving are encouraged to submit a Statement of Interest form to the City Clerk’s Office, located inside the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center, 150 Wakefield Street, Rochester, NH 03867.
