Rochester Student Ainsley Gordon Named to New Hampshire Kid Governor Executive Council

Thursday, December 5, 2024

Education

The Rochester School District is thrilled to announce that Ainsley Gordon, a fifth-grade student at Maple Street Magnet School, has been selected to serve on the New Hampshire Kid Governor Executive Council. This prestigious honor recognizes Ainsley’s dedication to leadership and her passion for advocacy. As a member of the Executive Council, she will serve a one-year term, leveraging her platform to make a positive impact on her community and the state of New Hampshire.

In the New Hampshire Kid Governor program, seven students are selected as finalists each year from over 1,800 fifth graders statewide. One student is elected as the Kid Governor, while the other six finalists are appointed to the Executive Council to collaborate and support statewide initiatives.

Ainsley’s campaign focuses on environmental responsibility, specifically addressing littering and promoting recycling throughout New Hampshire. Her platform emphasizes the importance of individual actions in protecting the environment and encourages students to participate in efforts to preserve the state’s natural beauty.

As part of her new role, Ainsley and her classmates have been invited to attend the 2025 New Hampshire Kid Governor and Executive Council Inauguration. This special event will take place on January 28, 2025, at the State House in Concord, NH, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, with a snow date set for January 31. The ceremony will formally inaugurate Ainsley and her fellow council members, marking the start of their efforts to create meaningful change in New Hampshire.

“We are incredibly proud of Ainsley’s achievement and excited to see the impact she will have during her time on the Executive Council,” said Rochester School District Superintendent Annie Azarloza. “Her initiative and dedication to environmental causes reflect the values we strive to instill in our students. Ainsley is an excellent example of how young people can make a difference in their communities.”

Ainsley is the second student from Maple Street Magnet School in two years to serve on the New Hampshire Kid Governor Executive Council.
