Students plan to hold Senior Prom ‘Under the Stars’ at The Ridge

Students and teachers at Spaulding High School have collaborated with Waterstone Properties Group and Rochester Rotary to host the 2021 Senior Prom at The Ridge Marketplace.

The 2020 Prom was unfortunately canceled, due to COVID-19 concerns. Since many students are not yet vaccinated, or in the process, an outdoor Prom was the best solution going forward.

“We are delighted to host the 2021 Spaulding High School Prom,” said Jennifer Murphy Aubin, Waterstone Properties Group. “Having a safe, socially distanced outdoor prom is a wonderful way to celebrate this year.”

The event will take place on May 23rd at the green space between 110 Grill and MOOYAH Burgers & Shakes. Waterstone is contributing the space, a tent for the DJ, decorative planters, and over $1,500 to equipment and fundraising needs, according to Murphy Aubin.

“The pandemic brought many unexpected challenges, especially for the students, but we as a community are united to lift one another up and move forward with this creative solution,” Murphy Aubin continued.

To ensure the Prom will happen rain or shine, students and organizers collaborated with Rochester Rotary to launch a ‘Go Fund Me’ campaign to raise funds to rent a large event tent and cover other expenses.

“We’re so excited for them to have this experience,” said Stacy Horne, Spaulding High School staff member. “We are so appreciative of everyone who is coming together to make this event possible. This includes Waterstone Properties, 110 Grill, SHS faculty, Potter’s House Bakery, New England Pizza, Hannaford, Rochester Rotary, and Market Basket. It has been wonderful to see the community rally behind our seniors.”
